About Startup Weekend

No Talk, All Action. Launch a Startup in 54 hours.

Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily developers, UX/UI designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

TechTalks.ph has organized and mentored at many Startup Weekend workshops in the Philippines with the support of DOST-ICTO and local ICT councils.  The Department of Science and Technology - Information and Communications Technology Office believes that "providing support to countryside entrepreneurial activities is an effective way to expand the local economy through ICT.  Promotion of homegrown ICT products and businesses will not only provide employment but also provide innovative solutions through creative products and services".

Working with the local community (ICT academe, freelancers, startups, businesses, local govt), SW organizers believe that this event will create more awareness of startups or Innovation-Driven Enterprises (IDE) as an alternate way to make a living.

Startups are suitable for those who have a passion for business and have access to a laptop and internet.  Startup Weekend is great venue to discover the hidden Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerbergs in our community.   While startups are not easy, we want to give everyone an opportunity to experience building one during the Startup Weekend workshop.
